The story on the ground
A highly appealing quick prehistoric stop within Balbirnie Park. The monument belongs to the important Balfarg–Balbirnie ceremonial landscape, with Neolithic activity and later Bronze Age burial use. The visible circle was excavated and moved about 125 metres in 1971 for A92 road widening, so it must not be described as standing in its untouched original position.

The visible stones were excavated and relocated about 125 metres in 1971; present the original archaeology and later reconstruction separately.

- Located within public Balbirnie Park near the North Lodge. Park at the small access point at 56.211803, -3.152049, then follow the woodland path for a short walk to the circle. The wider park has an official path network.
- Parking/access point: 56.211803, -3.152049. From here take the short woodland path north to Balbirnie Stone Circle; do not route to the centre of the stones.
- Small access/parking area: check current signs, leave turning space and never block gates. Woodland surfaces may be wet or uneven. The circle is relocated and partially reconstructed; treat the stones and archaeological setting respectfully.
